"As a boy growing up in a river town in Northern Illinois, my only experience with mountains was in my imagination. Real mountains, like the Sierra Nevada, turned out to be much more wonderful. They have fascinated me for the past 25 years that I've lived near them, and I try to share that sense of wonder in my paintings"
