Stan Padilla is a multi-disciplinary artist, educator and cultural activist with disciplines that include drawing, painting, muralism, and jewelry making. He has exhibited his artwork nationally and internationally with works included in many prominent collections. As an educator he has been a longtime consultant in Indian education programs, an art instructor at Sierra College, community and cultural centers. He was an artist in residence in community schools for over ten years through grants from the California Arts Council. He is associated with the international Waldorf education movement.
He is an active hiker, outdoorsmen and environmentalist. The Sierra Nevada Mountains are an inspiration for his artwork and life. He is an interpretive guide for the Sutter 5uttes, on the Advisory Board of the Maidu Interpretive Center, leads groups on the American River and has lead tours into the Black Rock Desert in Nevada. He has traveled extensively and has been a participant in cultural exchange programs in Russia, Canada, Mexico, El Salvador and Nicaragua.
Born in 1945, Padilla is of Yaqui Indian and Mexican/Chicano heritage. He is active in the multi-cultural community and is currently the artist/mentor of the
“All Colors of the Earth Wisdom Project" in conjunction with the Placer County Arts Council. He maintains a small studio and office at the Arts Building, 808 Lincoln Way, Auburn. He is available for commissions and consultations.
