Keith Sutter Photography

Keith Sutter's enthusiasm for photography is infectious. After spending several hours with Keith before going on a safari to Tanzania, world famous wildlife artist Douglas VanHowd switched to digital for his photography, "Keith has the amazing natural talent of sharing knowledge and enthusiasm for what can be a very intimidating subject." Keith was a forerunner in the conversion to digital photography when in 1994 he tested the waters with an Apple Quicktake digital camera; he became a convert in 1998 when he purchased a 2 megapixel camera for $15,000. He has helped usher in the era of digital photography and he empowers digital shooters, whether they are recording their family vacation in Disneyland or shooting professionally, with the tools and vision to create highly rewarding images. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Photography from the prestigious Brook's Institute of Photography and has been an educator for 13 years conducting photography classes and workshops as well as teaching digital imaging at Sierra College. Keith has given slide presentations across the country as well as at the Royal Geographical Society's headquarters in London.

Professionally, Keith has been awarded photography's highest honors. He has been funded and published by National Geographic Magazine and books. In 1992 at only 24 years of age, Keith was named "Mountain Photographer of the Year" by Summit Magazine and Britain's Scientific Exploration Society. As the official photographer of the Royal Geographical Society's expedition successfully crossing the Taklamakan Desert in China, Keith spent 58 days on foot crossing the world's second largest sea of sand (780 miles.) As a finalist in "The Million Dollar Moment" photo contest Keith was featured on CBS's Early Show. In 2001, Keith was a founding partner and President of the highly successful internet based fine art photo printing company JumboGiant.com.

Keith believes, "While digital photography has greatly enhanced the advertising and news media industries, its greatest beneficiaries are families. The ability to record moments in our lives, whether they are a child's first steps or the sun dipping below the horizon in Hawaii, coupled with the ever expanding ways in which we can relive and share these moments are digital photography's greatest offerings."

Keith Sutter's work has been published in:
National Geographic, Outside, Men's Journal, Architectural Digest, Real Simple, Sunset, Sierra, National Geographic Books, Summit, The New York Times, The Sunday Times (London), The South China Morning Post, The Sacramento Bee, and many other publications.

Keith resides with his wife and two sons in Auburn, California, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada.
