In 1872, Mark Twain referred to Lake Tahoe in this way:  “As it lay there with the shadows of the mountains brilliantly photographed upon its still surface I thought it must surely be the fairest picture the whole earth affords.”

And to see Lake Tahoe from the air is an even greater delight. \
