Rob Bonner was born in Nevada City, California. Rob is a self-taught guitarist, and after a tour in Vietnam, he returned to school and earned his degree in music. He received his B.A. in 1978 and his M.E. in 1990.

Rob formed the South Loomis Quickstep Band in 1972, a group with a style firmly rooted in the traditional music of southern Appalachia along with a solid bluegrass background creating their own unique style. He has been teaching private lessons in the Sierra foothills for the past twenty-seven years and also teaches very popular guitar classes at Sierra College.

Rob also co-owns the Rainbow Music Company, with his lovely wife Christine.
