Alton Pryor has been a writer for magazines, newspapers, and wire services for many years.    He is a graduate of California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism. Alton worked for United Press International in their Sacramento Bureau and, following his UPI experience, for the Salinas Californian daily newspaper for five years as editor of Western Ranch and Home.  In 1963, he joined California Farmer magazine where he worked as a field editor for 27 years.  Since retirement, Alton Pryor has written eleven books that are collections of short California history articles.
